Name Searches

  • A Name Qualifier acts as a filter in certain instances, when utilized to run a judgment search. Here's how it will affect your judgment search results. Trustee, Executor, Guardian, and Administrator qualifiers are filters. When one of these qualifiers is chosen, we will only report judgments where the debtor is the debtor in their capacity as whichever qualifier is chosen. For example: When you search Jack Cooper as Trustee, we will only return results where Jack Cooper is debtor in the capacity of Trustee. We do not return results on Jack Cooper, made debtor in his own capacity, or in any other capacity such as Administrator, Guardian, or Executor. The Estate Of qualifier is meant to be used to label the search name. When you search using the Estate Of qualifier, we will report the same results as using no qualifier at all. The estates of individuals should always be run as individuals. The Estate Of qualifier can be chosen to identify the search is for the Estate. When you do not choose a qualifier, we return all results on the name searched whether the judgment debtor is the debtor in their own capacity or any other capacity. We do offer on our web order form, a suffix field which can be used if you would like one of the filter type qualifiers to be used to label the names searched, but not actually be used to filter the search. When utilizing the name qualifier Estate Of it is important to note that State Capital does not treat the Estate Of an individual as a legal entity when performing a search. When running a search on an Estate Of an individual as an individual and running a search on the Estate Of an individual as a company, you can expect to have different results for each report. For example, a search of Roy Rogers as an individual and a search on Roy Rogers as an individual using the Estate Of qualifier will produce similar results, as would the search of Roy Rogers as a company and Roy Rogers as a company using the Estate Of qualifier (again, the Estate Of qualifier would only be chosen for labeling purposes since State Capital does not treat an Estate Of as a legal entity). But, if a search was run on Roy Rogers as an individual using the Estate Of qualifier, and a search run on Roy Rogers as a company using the Estate Of qualifier, you can expect different results since two different searches are being performed.
